COVID-19 Response: Standing with
El Salvador to Protect the Community
As the COVID-19 pandemic – and the responses by the national government and international agencies – rapidly evolve, Energía del Pacifico has implemented strict safety protocols to safeguard the health and wellbeing of our employees and contractors at our project sites and office locations, while continuing essential construction.
We are fully engaged in active and ongoing monitoring of this issue, which includes ongoing communications with leading health experts and public officials. We are following guidance issued by the El Salvador Ministry of Health and Labor, the World Health Organization, and other health authorities in developing our response protocol, and we urge all workers to adhere to them at home as well.
Our protocols are comprehensive and include: prevention in all daily activities in and out of the workplace, transit to our work sites, distancing and sanitation during the work shift, and our workers’ safe return home. The following actions have been taken to help us prepare for and actively manage this issue.
We have worked closely with all employees, contractors, suppliers, and others to ensure that anyone who is ill or believes they have been exposed to COVID-19 refrain from entering sites or offices. This includes requiring health questionnaires and periodic temperature screening. We have also restricted visitor access.
We developed procedures and best practices for social distancing including protocol for transporting personnel to job sites and staggering arrival and departure times for workers. Workers are required to wear personal protective equipment on site, including face masks, and we have provided additional equipment to workers and the surrounding communities.
Employees are required to practice proper hygiene and have been provided multiple handwashing and hand sanitization stations at all project job sites. We have also increased communications, signage, and oversight of personal hygiene and safety requirements to urge better prevention practices.
We have installed a medical assistance facility and audiovisual system at the power plant site to provide primary medical attention and deliver health and safety protocol reminders. We have also deployed additional health and safety supervisors at the site.
We regularly distribute important information resources to all employees on best health and safety practices at work and at home, and we require that they review and sanitize materials and tools daily before work.
Energía del Pacífico will continue to place our highest priority on the health, safety, and wellbeing of our team members, contractors, and surrounding communities, and take all reasonable measures to mitigate the risk of COVID-19.
